Finian’s Rainbow

3rd April 2014 /Posted byRobert Cope / 3569 / 0

Transferring to the Charing Cross Theatre from an acclaimed run at the Union Theatre, Finian’s Rainbow by Burton Lane and lyricist E.Y Harburg contains some of the loveliest musical theatre songs ever written including Old Devil Moon, If This Isn’t Love, Look to the Rainbow & How are Things in Glocca Morra?

Comedy writer Fred Saidy and Harburg integrated them into a plot involving an Irish immigrant, pursued by a leprechaun, hoping to grow gold in the soil around Fort Knox whilst finding a husband for his daughter! The result was a smash hit Broadway musical, and the much loved film version starring Fred Astaire, Petula Clark and Tommy Steele.

★★★★ “If you’re a lover of the Golden Age of Broadway you’d be advised to catch it while you can, particularly while it has the good fortune of this impeccable production” Exteunt

“Highly Entertaining” Time Out

“There’s definitely a pot of gold at the end of Finian’s Rainbow” The Stage

“A fun night of theatrical joy and escapism” West End Frame

Returning to the West End for the first time in over 65 years, rediscover this Broadway classic in a brand new production by multi-award winning director Phil Willmott with choreography by acclaimed ballroom dance specialist Thomas Michael Voss.

Muscial Fun
2.5

Summary

Great for fans of musical theatre.
