The UK government’s plan for easing of lockdown, Step 2, which came in on April 12th 2021, included the following announcement that was good for local café’s and hospitality venues:
Hospitality venues will be allowed to serve people outdoors at Step 2 and there will be no need for customers to order a substantial meal with alcoholic drinks and no curfew, although customers must order, eat and drink while seated (‘table service’). Wider social contact rules will apply in all these settings to prevent indoor mixing between different households.
This was much-welcomed news for local cafe’s in Clerkenwell such as the iconic Forty Four The Green, based right on Clerkenwell Green. Forty Four The Green boasts a large outside area where locals can sit and enjoy a breakfast, lunch, or a hot drink during their break. Forty-Four, and other businesses on the Green, are important hubs of the community, so as lockdown easing continues, businesses have had to make the most of what the Internet and social media can provide to promote their brand and recoup lost trade during the three lockdowns.
In order to let customers and local businesses that patronise the cafe know they are open for business again, the owners Robby Dale and David Dale commissioned a new website to advertise their corporate catering services in addition to the day-to-day cafe. The website is the talk of the community this week as the chatter in the media community spreads quite quickly in Clerkenwell.
